A favorite painting of mine shows a local commercial fisherman with a boatload of salmon, the caption reads “Work is our joy.” To this day I find that saying to be a constant in my life. At an early age, I was introduced to the cranberry farming business by my father and over 50 years later, my family still farms. A good portion of my prior work life was spent as a logger and a log hauler. The memories and experiences from that time I greatly cherish. In 1973 my wife and I married, and in 1974 we purchased our first home. We have never regretted choosing to spend our entire adult lives in the very same area we were raised – the Long Beach Peninsula. I am very driven by a strong work ethic so time for hobbies is limited. When I do have time, I enjoy riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and driving my 1948 Chevy pickup accompanied by my rescue Border Collie mix, Petey.
